Meet Your Coach

IMG_8995_edited_edited.jpg

My name is Brandon Kelone, and I'm a Certified Health Coach, Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Licensed Massage Therapist. I work both online and in-person with people like you who are working to better their lives through the incorporation of exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle/behavioral modification.

Health and fitness were always a priority in my family, and so I naturally became interested in exercise and nutrition at an early age. Over many years I progressively learned how to eat healthfully, how to get the most from my workouts, how to better manage stress, how to properly rest and recover from exercise, and overall, how to optimize my mind and body to live a better life.

Earlier in my professional career I worked as an English teacher, but my driving passion was always health and fitness. I loved teaching, but I wanted to change what I was teaching; I wanted to teach people how to live more healthful lives. So that's what I do now as Certified Health & Fitness Coach.

---

My Philosophy of Health & Wellness is that there is no "one size fits all." I don't have "a program" that I send you through. And I strongly believe that any health or fitness coach who says they have a program that fits everyone is either lying to you or fooling themselves. The human body and mind are unbelievably complex and interconnected systems. Before finding a program to help you achieve your personal health and fitness goals, we need to figure out where you're starting from, what motivates you, how your body responds to different nutritional protocols, and how to structure an ideal exercise program that's specific to your individual needs.

So I always start health coaching by trying to get as clear a picture as possible about where you're starting. Then, we'll work together to identify short and longterm goals as well as "process goals" that will progressively lead you to better health and wellness and a more enjoyable life.

What to Expect from Coaching Anchor

What to Expect from Health Coaching

During the coaching process, my complete focus and attention will be on you. My foremost goal in this process is to support your pursuit of better health and wellness. It’s as simple as that. However, sometimes that help and support may involve challenging unproductive thought processes, questioning inaccurate preconceived notions, or otherwise pushing you to challenge some of the patterns that have led you to develop the things that you are seeking to change.

You should know that everything that we discuss will be considered confidential. Although health coaching is not a medical service, our communications and documentations are treated with the same level of care and are subject to the same laws as medical records.

Our health coaching sessions will be conducted through online video calls (Zoom).

Each coaching session will be unique, but they will all follow a basic structure.

A few topics that are commonly discussed in health coaching sessions are:

  • Fitness, health, and wellness goals and progress towards those goals.

  • Challenges that you experienced related to your health and wellness since our last session.

  • Strategies to overcome challenges and barriers-to-success.

  • Fitness program design.

  • Nutrition program design.

  • Food journals.

  • Stress management techniques.

  • “Sleep hygiene.”

This is nothing close to an exhaustive list of what can come up during our sessions, but it serves as a good preview into what you can expect from our meetings.

What to Expect from Me as Your Coach

  • I’m here to work for you.

  • Provide support, guidance, and perspective.

  • Show up prepared and invested into each coaching session.

  • Listen to you openly and actively.

  • Ask challenging questions.

  • Provide structure in the coaching process.

  • Assist in setting goals, planning, and strategizing your success.

  • Answer questions that you may have along the way.

  • Act as an accountability partner.

  • Trust you to make your own decisions.

  • Be open and honest to you.

  • Completely believe in your autonomy and your ability to change for the better.

What I Do Not Do as Your Coach

  • Do your work for you.

  • Judge you in any way, shape, or form.

  • Provide legal or financial advice.

  • Provide therapy or counseling.

  • Prescribe medication.

  • Treat, remedy, or heal any disease, sickness, or medical ailment.

How We'll Stay Connected

  • Our primary mode of communication outside of our coaching sessions will be the Acacia Fruit Trainerize app (available on Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

  • Text messaging will serve as a secondary line of communication if the Trainerize app is not accessible or not working.

  • For Coaching Sessions: Zoom.

    • Please familiarize yourself with the platform that you’d prefer to use.

DURING YOUR COACHING SESSION:

  • Make sure you’re in a distraction-free area for the duration of the session.

  • Make sure that you’ve tested your phone or computer’s software for updates before our session.

  • Make sure you are in a place that has a reliable internet connection.

  • Bring any "homework," notes, or questions you have from our last session.

  • Have a way to take notes either digitally or with pen and paper.

  • Plan on being engaged

    • A huge part of effective coaching is asking questions and listening as you explore your thoughts, experiences, beliefs, and feelings about that topic or question. Although you’ll hear a lot from me during our sessions, it’s vitally important that you come to each session with a sense of enthusiasm and a willingness to participate and explore.

What's Expected from You

I want for you to make your coaching sessions a priority. We are a team in this process and we’ll accomplish a lot more together than either of us could do alone.

To get the most out of your coaching package, you'll need to be present and prepared for each session. I never want coaching to feel like a burden to you, but sometimes there will be “homework” or notes that you'll be asked to bring to your next session. Please make every effort to be prepared at the start of each meeting. Give yourself a few minutes before the start of your session, and make sure that you’re fully present during the time we have together. As your coach I’ll make that same commitment to you.

Share your stories with me. Tell me about your victories, your wins, and your successes. But also be willing to share your challenges, your disappointments, and your frustrations as they come. I don’t expect it to be all rainbows and butterflies, because a lot of the time it takes discomfort to achieve growth and improvement. I hope that as we continue to work together you’ll be willing to be open, honest, and be vulnerable in our coaching sessions. Hearing about the challenges (along with the successes) will help me to better understand you and better tailor the program to meet your needs.

Our sessions are intended to bring you from where you are today to where you want to be in a near future. They're about self-improvement, self-betterment, and self-exploration. I can only gauge the success of that journey through my own perspective, and so constructive feedback from you is encouraged as we continue to work together. Let me know along the way what is working for you and if there’s anything that you’d like to see changed. Remember—these sessions are for you. So if there’s anything that you see that would make your experience better, please let me know.

What I Ask from You

  • Show up on time and prepared for each coaching session.

  • Show up to each meeting in a distraction-free environment.

  • Show up to each meeting able to take notes (digital or written).

  • Put in the work and challenge yourself--both during and between our sessions.

  • Be willing to push yourself beyond the ordinary limits of your comfort.

  • Cancel or reschedule appointments 36 hours in advance.

  • Let me know if something isn’t working.

  • Enjoy the process!
